The idea behind the Type 39VM

Type 39VM is our sophomore release, planned for late 2025. This is our undiluted vision of the ultimate dive watch for everyday wearing, in an ultra-thin package.

"What if we apply the VPC philosophy and our 7 design principles to the classical dive watch archetype?"

This is the question that set us off on our journey to develop Type 39VM (Viator Maris, or traveler of the sea). We aim to build on the design language set by Type 37HW, creating an unmistakable family tie between the models. Still, we wanted to do justice to the unique challenges of developing a serious dive watch, capable of hard use under tough circumstances. At the same time, it would not be a VPC if it did not strive for the best possible ergonomics, subtlety, elegance, and beauty through restraint. Can those ambitions be combined in a way that does not ever feel like a compromise?

We like to think so.

Case

Our design language as set with Type 37HW finds a new form in Type 39VM. Measuring in at just 9,4mm tall, while retaining an ample 200-meter water resistance.

Typography

More fully custom typography for Type 39VM. This time, we took our "Venustas" typeface and tweaked it to suit our dive-time bezel. The resulting numerals look fresh and sleek, while retaining the mid-century vibe set by the original type.

Bracelet

Full backwards compatibility with the original 20mm bracelet from Type 37HW.

Unparalleled ergonomics

Who said a toolwatch has to be cumbersome? From the ultra-thin case to the curvature of the lugs, and from the short, thin bracelet links to the immediate drape from the end link, it is all designed with wearing comfort in mind. You will not want to take your Type 39VM off. Ever.
